QuantaAPI lets you create mock REST endpoints and control how they behave: the JSON body they return, how long they take to answer, which requests they accept, and how often they fail. Your frontend can integrate against a stable contract from day one.
Free during betaThere are no plans, quotas, or billing. Every feature described here is available to every account.
What you can do
- Group endpoints into collections and give each collection its own API key.
- Create endpoints with an exact path and HTTP method.
- Return any JSON body, with template variables that change per request.
- Add latency to imitate a slow network.
- Reject malformed requests by declaring required headers and body fields.
- Return random failures at a configurable rate to exercise error handling.
- Send a request from the dashboard and inspect the result.
- Review request logs and a seven-day traffic chart per endpoint.
How the pieces fit
CollectionA group of endpoints. Each collection owns one API key that consumers send as a header.EndpointA path plus an HTTP method inside a collection. Its path and method together are its identity.RequestOne call to a mock endpoint. Validated, optionally failed on purpose, delayed, and always logged.
How a mock request is served
- 01The collection key is resolvedThe request must carry the collection key in the
x-collection-api-keyheader. Without it the call is rejected with 403. - 02The endpoint is matchedQuantaAPI looks for an endpoint in that collection with the exact same path and HTTP method. If none matches, it returns 404.
- 03The payload is validatedDeclared headers and body fields are checked. Anything out of contract returns 400.
- 04Failure may be injectedIf the request is valid and an error is rolled, a random entry from the error pool becomes the response.
- 05The response is renderedTemplate variables in your stored JSON are replaced with the real values.
- 06Latency is applied and the request is loggedThe configured delay is waited out, then the result is written to the request log.
